Town of Gibraltar

Welcome to the Town of Gibraltar, Door County, Wisconsin!

“With its back to a rock, and its face to the sea.”

“The heart of northern Door County.” “The Cape Cod of the Midwest.” “Cherry Country.”

The Town of Gibraltar and the area surrounding it are called many things. But to those who live here, it’s simply called home.

The Township of Gibraltar, which includes the unincorporated communities of Fish Creek, Juddville, and Maple Grove, is centrally located in northern Door County, just 90 minutes from Green Bay, Wisconsin. With its mix of breathtaking landscapes and intriguing history, it’s easy to fall in love with this nostalgic slice of Door County.

At the heart of the town is the village area of Fish Creek, where a delightful mix of old and new greet residents and visitors alike. Like a scene plucked from a Currier and Ives print, white buildings still stand along the tree lined streets, telling the story of the town’s beginnings as a fishing village. Out on the bay, sailboats glide through blue waters set against a backdrop featuring Peninsula State Park, Chambers Island, and a series of smaller islands.

In the rural areas of town, tradition lives on. Farmers tend to their crops and livestock...working orchards and farm markets offer fresh-picked cherries, apples and other local produce...local artists exhibit their work in off-the-beaten-path studios...and residential areas provide a quiet retreat at the end of the day.

Reminders of yesterday—the Noble House Museum, the Old Town Hall, and other places of significance—keep the Town deeply rooted in its beginnings, while the seasonal hustle and bustle of restaurants, shops and outdoor activities chart the town’s growth and progress. Offering something for everyone, Gibraltar is home to a host of restaurants, shops, historical walking tours, and plenty of opportunities in the arts, culture, and outdoor recreation.

From the flurry of activity during the peak of summer to the relaxed pace of the shoulder months, there is a palpable ebb and flow to life in Gibraltar. With its vibrant energy and strong historical ties, the town embodies a distinct Door County character all its own, one that redefines “small town charm” in a way that draws people back…whether for a weekend, a season, or a lifetime.
